I was assessing performance of the awareness period in November 2025 on Facebook and was astonished to find the size of my reach on that platform. It appears I reached well over half a million people (572,700 to be exact) when adding up the performance of my 3 public Facebook pages (from left to right 16k, 3k and 8.5k followers). Clearly much of this performance was generated by people reading and sharing my work. But the most astonishing figures came from separating these views into followers (of my Facebook pages) and non-followers (a clear target for awareness). From the graphic below, you will note that non-followers accounted for approx two thirds of the views on Facebook. That did not follow on to website views (click throughs) of the content of the Facebook post but as I normally add a small abstract piece to each post and that is normally amplified by the chosen lead picture, the message has probably got through to many who know nothing about this cancer. To me that is a phenomenal achievement but I must thank you for two things – firstly for opening my posts and increasing the figures for my website views, and secondly, I cannot take all the credit for the non-follower reach, a lot of that is down to you guys looking at the fantastic number of Facebook shares over the same period!

But that is without taking into account ‘reach’ on WordPress (my blog platform), X (formerly known as twitter), Pinterest, Instagram, and Bluesky etc. So perhaps it was more towards 1 million or at least 750,000. Not bad for a wee Scottish guy with a computer. And the non-followers …. well, that is just pure awareness.
Thanks all
