RET is an abbreviation for “rearranged during transfection”. It is a gene associated with the familial version of Medullary Thyroid Cancer which is grouped within Neuroendocrine Neoplasms. Approximately 25% of medullary thyroid cancers are hereditary and the RET gene mutations are responsible for MEN2.
