Sometimes you gotta climb that hill because it’s a better view!
For those who are not familiar with my “sometimes you gotta climb that hill” series, let me explain one important thing before you read. These posts are metaphorical posts. The “hill” represents a challenge, often one that people with cancer have to face. It is not a blog about physically walking up a hill – although I do use my outdoor challenges to get the point over (plus many of my followers prefer my exploits to my technical articles!).
I always get a lot of personal satisfaction and self administered mental health treatment by taking part, and that is also part of the metaphor.
To maintain momentum with this theme, I often add an adjunct to the title, e.g. sometimes you gotta do it twice, sometimes it hurts, sometimes you gotta do it even if you don’t want to. As you can see, this one is because there is often a better view at the top of the hill. You can use your own imagination of how these ‘metaphors’ might be applied to a cancer patient at diagnosis and beyond.

However, I’m also doing a test of posting one of my travel blogs until I can find a suitable template! Thanks for looking at our photos, most of them were taken by Chris.

View of Malvern Priory at the base of the hill

some parts of the hill were green almost like a lawn

a very nice place to sit – see other pictures of this spot later

we had a mixture of skies this day, the sun trying to break out through the clouds and mist

plenty false peaks

laying down on the job!

some bits were slippy (as I was to find out later)

near the bottom, an old quarry

one of these is called sugar loaf

more mud

getting quite misty

looking west to Wales

at the start it was a proper car path to gain height – but a slog!

we didn’t go this way but we wondered where it went

the Malvern Hills comprises a large spine/ridge from north to south – this is looking south

in UK, this is a triangulation point used for mapping but contains a height – and is used for mapping purposes

see how quick the clouds were moving….

me at the trig point pulpit!

this was close to the trig point – this is called

me at Worcestershire Beacon

the lead picture above. Tremendous view and that is me with still 30 metres of climb left and I’m having a breather!

Totally loves this view as I walked up to yet another false peak 🙂

muddy in places

lovely view

us at the same view

mud mud glorious mud

this was near the start of the walk up the tarmac path – the ditch was draining water from the hill – not a good omen

well it was 31st December. A green Santa – who knew!
