Sometimes you gotta climb that hill, even if you get wet is another metaphor post.

Earlier this month in July 2023, Chris and I set off to climb a hill on Dartmoor.  The weather was unpredictable, and we anticipated getting wet alongside the physical effort needed to climb Cox Tor.

We spent an hour steadily climbing up an approach path just to get to the base of Cox Tor and it had already rained twice at this point.  The clouds were moving fast over our heads, dropping their rain each time.  We still had to climb to the top and it was steeper than the first hour of the walk.

I won’t lie and say it never crossed my mind to cut this bit of our walk out and head south on the easy section.  Those doubts chipped away at my motivation, and I later felt annoyed I had let those thoughts take over, even for a few seconds. Refocused, Chris and I then marched up that hill!  Three clouds passed over us at the top, two dropped rain. We got wet. This too shall pass.

As I am once again reminded of my diagnostic cancerversary where I had many metaphoric hills to climb with many doubts in my head including my survival chances etc.  I plodded on, I felt pain and I got wet! I’m still here.

We made it!
Sometimes you gotta climb that hill, even if it hurts!

The original “climb that hill” post

This is a crazy coincidence but my original post was based on an experience in Dartmoor. few miles south of where the lead photo was taken.  That was back in 2016 but the title and the metaphor was not lost on many people and the post was even published by Macmillan Cancer Support (the biggest cancer support organisation in UK).

Go on, climb that hill!
Piss off cancer!

A cup of tea

I would also mention those who contributed to my “Tea Fund” which resides on PayPal.  You don’t need a PayPal account as you can select a card but don’t forget to select the number of units first (i.e. 1 = £4, 2 = £8, 3 = £12, and so on), plus further on, tick a button to NOT create a PayPal account if you don’t need one.  Clearly, if you have a PayPal account, the process is much simpler

Through your generosity, I am able to keep my sites running and provide various services for you.  I have some ideas for 2023 but they are not detailed enough to make announcements yet.
