Every stripe is lost awareness

Every stripe is lost awareness

Since 2015, my message has not changed and it continues to be justified because since then, many important voices in the NEN community have repeated it!  However, there has been, and still remains, some intransigence, although some of that has now buckled in the face of the recent US SEER extract from NET specialists and similar for Canadian statistics in 2026.  These two pieces of data add to the voices of UK and Australia who were ahead of the game with higher quality data some time ago.  Clearly the model is changing and everyone needs to start reframing Neuroendocrine Neoplasms beyond rare.  Click here to read more.

However, this is not a time for resting on laurels.  Unfortunately, some elements of the NEN community remain entrenched in old thinking, in flawed thinking. I can only describe them as negative disruptors, clinging on to this old thinking. It seems like they refuse to change their mind or plan to change, even when new data from around the world and important voices should persuade them otherwise. Some seem to have really dug their ‘hooves’ in.  I firmly believe their stubborn and pig-headed approach continues to harm the efficacy of awareness for NENs. It has to stop.

Every stripe is lost awareness.
