Ranitidine, is a medication that decreases stomach acid production. It is commonly used in treatment of peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. Tentative evidence shows it to be of benefit for hives. It is from a class of drugs known as histamine blockers or H2 Receptor Antagonists (H2RA). Also known by its brand name of Zantac.
