A low grade NET found in the lungs. Typical Lung NETs account for 80-90% of all well differentiated Lung NETs, i.e. they are much more common that Atypical NETs (Grade 2). Poorly differentiated Neuroendocrine Carcinomas of lung origin (SCLC and LCNEC) are considerably more prevalent than than well differentiated Lung NETs.

The picture regarding its use in Neuroendocrine Neoplasms is not clear and there is no general roadmap printed. Continuing with the output of updated clinical guidelines from ENETS, this paper is unlike the others so far in 2022/23/24 where the guidelines were set against several clinical questions for particular scenarios (presumably common in the NET patient population). So far, the clinical guidelines have centred on Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (GEP NENs) (Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (NEC) and Neuroendocrine Tumours (NET)). The latest output comes in a different format than the GEP NEN output but is based on Lung NETs, i.e. well differentiated Lung NETs. I'm a believer in science overtaking mortality figures and there is evidence of that already happening when you read the latest survival figures. But too many are still succumbing to this killer disease. I also believe that artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to help. Even with cancers of the lung, where known causes are heavily linked to death rates, are decreasing but that is mainly due to preventative measures such as stopping smoking.
