A Review of June 2024 on RonnyAllan.NET
Here is the monthly summary of what we all achieved in June 2024. Something new, something blue and some borrowed too! Every share helps someone understand or even work towards a diagnosis, discovery of the best doctors and treatments. One reason I am very thankful is because I continue to interleave personal life via short motorhome breaks and maintenance of my blog and other social media sites. I was literally on holiday for the enture month of June but still managed over 25,000 blog views. I wish I could do more but there's just little old me! And Chris too of course…

RonnyAllan.NET – a review of 2023
ReviewIn 2023, I managed to push beyond the 2022 totals, that was a major boost for me given December was a write off due to illnes. To be honest, I’m still flabbergasted by reaching one million views in 2018, and then reach 2 million in December 2020. I'm a third of the way to 3 million at 1 Jan 2024. It just kinda happened, there wasn't a plan! It's mindboggling. I'm grateful for every single view though.2023 was a challenging year, mainly because the pandemic continues to have some latent impact on my social media including in terms of growth. 2020…
A review of December 2023 on RonnyAllan.NET – Living with Neuroendocrine Cancer
December is always quieter than other months for obovus reasions, although I do try to maintain normality. The month started well and then turned into an absolute disaster. A death in the family followed by my second Covid-19 infection and at the time of writing, although now testing negative, I am still strugging with what feels like a regular and lingering chest infection. I'm thankful to those who supported me througout December, some of which will no doubt appear below. I continue to interleave personal life via short motorhome breaks and maintenance of my blog and other social media sites,…
A review of November 2023 on RonnyAllan.NET – Living with Neuroendocrine Cancer
November is always busier as I help spread awareness for 10th Nov (remembering that every day is 10th Nov on my site!). I also managed to push out quite a few blogs, some 'remasters' from 2014 but with their originality from that time. Others include the ENETS Guideline series, a work in progress. I'm thankful to those who supported these posts, some of which will no doubt appear below. I continue to interleave personal life via short motorhome breaks and maintenance of my blog and other social media sites, we might be heading off in the snow soon! It's tough…
A review of October 2023 on RonnyAllan.NET – Living with Neuroendocrine Cancer
October was a strange month, due to a combination of holiday recovery from September and terrible weather in UK, I managed to push out quite a few blogs, many 'remasters' from 2014 but with their originality from that time. I'm thankful to those who supported these posts, some of which will no doubt appear below. I continue to interleave personal life via short motorhome breaks and maintenance of my blog and other social media sites, albeit October was a one off. A review of September 2023 on RonnyAllan.NET – Living with Neuroendocrine Cancer
On my website RonnyAllan.NET, September was an interesting month because I had pushed out some blogs before I went on a planned overseas holiday from 6th - 25th Sep and then pushed out some more on return. This had the effect of producing higher figures than August. Normally holidays mean lower figures. I'm thankful to those who supported these posts, some of which will no doubt appear below. I continue to interleave personal life via short motorhome breaks and maintenance of my blog and other social media sites. It's tough to keep up sometimes but I'm thankful to the loyal…
A review of August 2023 on RonnyAllan.NET – Living with Neuroendocrine Cancer
On my website RonnyAllan.NET, August was as quiet as July but in the second half, I accelerated publication of some posts. The month was also helped by the publication of a solid tumour clinical trial and the breaking news of the CABOZANITINIB trial for NETs (if you missed those see below). I continue to interleave personal life via short motorhome breaks and maintenance of my blog and other social media sites. It's tough to keep up sometimes but I'm thankful to the loyal supporters who are on my blog site and the other sites day and night. I am very grateful.Below,…

RonnyAllan.NET – a review of 2022
ReviewIn 2022, my pet project (my blog) hit 2 million views in early November – that was a major boost. It takes 3-4 years to get a million hits based on current performance. To be honest, I’m still flabbergasted by reaching one million in 2018. It just kinda happened! I am grateful for every single view. 2022 was a challenging year, mainly because the pandemic had some latent impact on my social media activity and also in terms of growth. 2020 and 2021 were slower than normal but 2022 has seen some pickup. Some of it is due to less writing but much…

Happy New Year from Ronny
Another year of survivalI normally only do a Facebook happy new year, but I wanted to make sure I reached everyone who follows my blog and other social media outlets. All of the outlets above have kept my viewing figures high and although I only beat 2021 viewing figures by almost 10,000, it is an upward trend, so I'll take it!2022 was an amazing year in many respects. I continue to live well with Neuroendocrine Cancer, almost like a chronic disease. I'm not foolish enough to think I don't need surveillance though. That is ongoing, including regular contact when…
A Christmas 2022 message from Ronny
Background to 2022I've only ever sent these on Facebook but this year, after some challenges, I wanted to make sure I covered anyone who supports my sites via one channel whether it is Twitter, Facebook, Newsletter or direct from a subscription to my website. All of the outlets above have kept my viewing figures high, I guess I can't complain about a 2022 total of around 270,000 blog hits and hitting the milestone of 2 million blog hits in early November - that was a major boost. It takes 3-4 years to get a million hits based on current performance. This…
RonnyAllan.NET – Summary of November 2022
In November 2022, I was very active on my blog site as it was World Neuroendocrine Cancer Day on 10th Nov (although every day is the same for me!). The death of Wilko Johnson was unexpected, I tough he would be strumming his guitar for a bit longer. That was the top post by some margin. The 2nd top was surprisingly popular - empathy from an oncology nurse diagnosed with cancer. Only one old favourite made it into the top 5. Here are the 5 most read posts in November 2022. Click on the blue heading or the picture to…

Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on pinterest Pinterest Share on whatsapp WhatsApp Share on email Email Overview 2021 is now underway and January has been an interesting month. The highs are the approval of more vaccines and I had the first of my own vaccinations on 31st January - click here to see the announcement on my Facebook page. The lows are slightly depressing growth figures on my biggest Facebook public page and less than normal blog figures for the month of January. I'll need to work on that in February and with your help, I…
Ronny Allan Newsletter – 1st January 2021
Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on pinterest Pinterest Share on whatsapp WhatsApp Share on email Email Happy new year everyone! OverviewJust when things couldn't get weirder, they get weirder. At the beginning of the year, I started as I meant to go on, more advocacy work, more support for patients, grow my pages, grow my website, grow my private group. I achieved most of it (and then some). In February/March, it became obvious things were happening that would have serious consequences. Nonetheless, I think most people thought it would all be over in a few months.…

Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on pinterest Pinterest Share on whatsapp WhatsApp Share on email Email This newsletter covers a busy November with a look ahead for December and beyond. October 2020 was manic, but November was just as manic but in a different way. It was also a better month in terms of growth (increased viewing statistics etc).In UK. most of November had been under new COVID restrictions but due to the weather this time of year, I was not able to exploit that as much as the first lockdown in April/May. Despite that, I'm built…

September 2020 was manic but October, although slightly less busy, has been a mix of activity, much of it devoted to personal pursuits. Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on pinterest Pinterest Share on whatsapp WhatsApp Share on email Email September 2020 has been another very interesting month and I'm still trying to work out how I've been able to pack it all into 30 days. It's a month full of personal 'cancerversaries', things that have inspired me to do more and signs of normal life returning (well at least a new normal). The newsletter is divided into a number of sections: 1. External news of interest. A shortlist of things I picked up on my social media travels. 2.…

RonnyAllan.NET – Newsletter 1st July 2020
Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on pinterest Pinterest Share on whatsapp WhatsApp Share on email Email Coping with lockdownDuring June, I decided I continued to be active outside despite the fact I see myself as someone at risk, not just because of the Neuroendocrine Cancer but also due to a history of chest infections and mild asthma. Mental health can be as important as physical health in times of stress and anxiety so I took to the outdoors to tell my story of how I was coping. Of course the outdoors is also a garden (yard)…
RonnyAllan.NET – Newsletter 1st June 2020
Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on pinterest Pinterest Share on whatsapp WhatsApp Share on email Email Newsletters have returned! I ceased publication of monthly newsletters over a year ago, mainly because they were time consuming to compile and the impact was less then my average post in terms of feedback. However, since going into COVID-19 lockdown, I've given that some more thought. Going forward, I'll be sending you out a newsletter each month including an email version as soon as I can get my mailing system software up and running (I've been busy during lockdown!) Coping…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter Covering November 2018
Summary for November 2018 NET News 1. I supported the annual NET Cancer Day event in my own style, contributing SIGNIFICANTLY to both Facebook and Twitter social media platforms. My twitter accounts were the biggest contributors to the #LETsTalkAboutNETs and #NeuroendocrineCancer hashtags for several days straddling the 10th Nov and between this and my Facebook account, I accounted for a significant proportion of the data recently published by INCA. I almost got to my 1 million 'reach' on twitter in ONE WEEK straddling NET Cancer Day (see below) - just a wee Scottish guy with a less common disease and…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter Covering October 2018
Summary for October 2018 NET News Several headlines covering the past month: 1. The annual NANETS symposium took place last month and I constructed an article of several important outputs. One day I might make it there, been to ENETS twice. Would love to attend UKINETS but they don't seem very 'patient' friendly. 2. I spoke alongside IPSEN Pharma SAS (Global HQ) at the annual Eye for Pharma Patient Summit. It was an honour and a privilege to stand in front of 200 people to tell my personal story plus my involvement in LivingWithNETs.com. The audience was a mix of…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter Covering September 2018
Summary for September 2018 NET News Several headlines covering the past month: 1. The annual NANETS symposium kicks off in a few days. I'm hoping to bring you news from the event (remotely, I won't be there) and perhaps a summary in next month's newsletter. 2. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has a proposal on their desk to harmonise the grading structure for all types of Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (NEN). I've actually been ahead of the game for over a year since I found out this was coming and it's reflected in my 18 month old post on Staging and Grading.…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter Covering August 2018
Summary for August 2018 NET News Several headlines covering the past month: 1. The death of Aretha Franklin was a shock to her many fans around the world, including myself. I had no idea she was a Neuroendocrine Cancer patient. However, it would appear her death is being assigned as 'Pancreatic Cancer' mainly due to a rather clumsy statement from her physician. Despite the fact that her death certificate specifically confirms Neuroendocrine Cancer, we will be fighting a hard battle for years to come. The same thing happened with Steve Jobs, although I suspect we have now won that battle…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter JULY 2018
Summary for July Personal News Another unusual month, after a bizarre June. The chest infection has gone but still awaiting results of an x-ray to confirm. July was supposed to be partly holiday but that was cancelled due to illness. The chest infection caused a 4kg weight loss and only half of this has returned to date. I also got the results of my first ever Ga68 PET Scan and this resulted in an article below. No longer a boring stable patient but nothing that needs doing imminently. Many thanks to all the messages which continue to arrive both public…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter JUNE 2018
Summary for June For the first time in 3 years, I didn't write any new articles in a single month (other than the monthly newsletter). This was due to a prolonged chest infection from which I'm still recovering. I'm so much better now (thankfully) but I suspect recovery has been slightly hampered by the recent UK heatwave. I managed a relaxing short break on the south coast of England to make up for my cancelled 3 week road trip to Scotland My weight remains below 10 stone, the lightest I have been for over 30 years. For me, weight loss…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter May 2018
Summary for May Different type of intro to my newsletter as it's late due to unexpected illness. In some ways, what happened in May is possibly connected. I had quite a bit of work to do for a 'Patients Included' event in May in Berlin. I managed to meet the deadlines and admit I was slightly out of my comfort zone. That said, it was a success and I managed an amazing amount of new contacts and awareness for Neuroendocrine Cancer. I arrived back exhausted and turned my attention to another two things - a patient presentation to the…
RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter April 2018
Headlines 1. Patients Included. I'm a big believer that patients should be included in all aspects of healthcare and I can very much relate to any initiative that promotes this. I'm therefore pleased to have been listed as a Patients Included accredited site providing further EXTERNAL awareness opportunities - read about this here. 2. I've accepted an appointment to the Strategic Advisory Board on MultiMed Inc, the owner of Cancer Knowledge Network based in Canada who have featured my articles in the past (https://cancerkn.com/) - It also publishes a magazine called Current Oncology which is Medline listed. This is not…

RonnyAllan.NET – Community Newsletter February 2018
Another great start to the year in both NETs in the news and my social media activity. It's been really cold where I am though! I'm so busy with personal contacts, I decided to set up a chat room so that other people can help me answer some really difficult questions! This 'chat rom' is not designed to run like a traditional Facebook forum, it's a place to make people feel safe and to discuss without the usual distractions and dramas that people often encounter. And .... it's about learning. I welcome all types of NET, people from any country…
